Ok! The title might sound to be an advisory post but then its not. It is just one of the confusions on an average blogger’s mind(assuming that I am one of them! And going by the experiences of some of my fellow bloggers). What can be blogged and what cannot? This is not to say about the problems that might come when you blog on some sensitive issues(though they make some interesting discussions of their own in the blogger community! :) Such problems have even driven most of them towards anonymity in the blogspace. Imagine a scenario where the blog that you so frequently read and appreciate is your best friend’s. Or, better still, your worst enemy’s. Or, it could be your boss, your wife/girlfriend/significant other, your father or anyone. Why! It could even be that of the person sitting next to you in the cafeteria munching his lettuce sandwich day in and day out. Scary, huh?? We think we are the only ones smart and tech savvy enough in our group to maintain blogs and secret online personalities. But, my pal, the entire world thinks so! That is the boon and bane of Internet. But, I digress... )
Back to the confusion. We have so many new experiences every day. Especially if you are working/studying, single and love to travel and meet people. What do we blog about and what do we leave? Some seemingly trivial experience, at that moment, can have life-turning impact in the days to come. Some important experience(atleast we attach that importance) becomes immaterial in the coming days. So, what do we blog about?
For example, in the last few days, I attended a farewell party, had some great time with friends(lots of juicy titbits thrown in), had a contemplative train journey, met, quite unexpectedly, some seniors whom I had wanted to meet for long but had lost touch due to daily work pressure, finished a review, made progress on the project, met some people after a long time, had some cosy chats with loved ones, planned a trip, cribbed about dogs and caterpillars and the EB(for the frequent power cuts... What else?), saw a movie and did a thousand and one other things. Even if I wanted to note down everything that was happening(remember the blog is a sort-of online journal, according to researchers?) at this point in my life, I don’t think I would ever find time to pen down(or should it be key down? ;)) all this every day. I would be missing out on some more of the interesting things that are now occupying these busy, fun-filled days. So, what do I blog and what do I leave in this? Finally, what do I blog about?
There is another scenario preceding the same question. I’ve seen so many of my friends and fellow bloggers who have asked their readers to suggest some topic to blog on. This does not mean that there is a dearth of creativity. Its just that sometimes they have come a full circle and have exhausted some of the trivial topics to blog on. Everyone blogs about different topics from time to time ranging from serious to hilarious. People finally run out of topics to blog about. So, what do we blog about?
Anyone answering this million dollar question?

Blogging, for me, is simply putting down one's thoughts into words. There's no science to it, and there are no rules. Anything goes -- and that's the beauty of it. It is like a canvass where you're free to do anything you want with it -- and at the end, comes your masterpiece in however form you wish it to be. It's all you... and no one else's. And that's why we all love to read other people's blogs. Because art comes in the form of a million other things. Our own is just one form...
" What Do we Blog About..? "
In my View , Our Blogs are like the chit-chat we have at the coffee house.,
Posting all our views, discussing all the important issues "on which the one thing we can do is discuss" & post everything tat "We question ourselves and like to have too many answers.."
Blog has a great advantage.., you get to express yourselves to someone who you never knew/will know, yet find that they comment on your blog based on their Inference...
Your question was like a philospher asking "Ok again, why are we here (living)..." :)
or its like asking what we shud be doing on a weekend.
PPl do/write watever seems to interest them or thier readers. and I think thats the way it shud be.
As for me, I like blogs which raises interesting thoughts and once in a while with a touch of personal life/events.
hey that was an interesting thought. I couldn't come to grips with the question of what blogging is to me. Sure enough, I know that it means a lot to me and the other fellow bloggers.
The only problem is that I have not been getting enough time to update my blog. Now what would you call that? :))
Princess Banter, a great way to have put it! I'm liking your canvass a lot :)
Velocity, sometimes we start wondering what we include in a discussion and what we leave out. This is done based on the people participating in the discussion. But internet, being the open medium that it is, how do you decide on the audience and hence the topic? That is my question.
Arun, the word "interest" is the catch phrase here. There are lots of interesting things going on in each and everyone's life and it is hard to blog about each one of them. So, what criteria should be taken into account? Privacy? Openness? What is it?
Syrals, great to see you after quite some time! I too love my blog and what goes on it. And, as for not finding time to update it, can I put to being very busy? :)
Hey thats a cool way (Thanks! I feel better) of putting it. BTW, I finally managed to update it. That's called perseverance on encouragement. :)
Alpine :)
About the topic we choose...
i believe since v all have been blogging for a while we have an idea abt potential issues n queries which we can raise...
In blog we rather try to impress ourselves rather than others ( when in a discussion that is )
Besides the topics express our shades and moods... much like painting a canvass..
Well, blogging for me is to put one's sane/insane thoughts... A way to cry out loudly if you can't in front of real people.
There is no wish to be heard of... and whenever in life you want to revisit that moment.. you can very well do it. People do join you & comfort you on the way.
Yes, but some people do it for publicity & are always on the lookout for cheesy topics to attract others.
I don't need any such things. Have millions of thoughts to key down but lack of time restricts me.
For me blogging is a kinda online journal.V r out of coll now.Blogs kinda leaving offline msg for our frnds.Coz in coll v used to talk abt all d happenings from tea time to bed time...So it'll help our frnds to update abt ourselves though v r miles apart.vat say?
