Ad times!

Here are two ads that caught my attention recently. Both are super good - totally capturing the spirit in their own way! 

Advaitam

One of the best short films I've seen in Telugu. I can totally envision this friendship - I've seen an instance of it in real life. Different people, different settings but the same friendship. Hope you like it as well!

Group effect!

Random Youtube browsings can lead to stumbling on old forgotten songs and some of those songs are so connected to certain times in life that you go back to it pronto! Here's such a song:

This song was a craze among my friends during school (7th or 8th). I remember us dancing to this song and all others (Falguni Pathak anyone?) at a friend's place and collapsing into laughter (bringing aunty to see what the hell we were upto). Then, love was something funny that we saw only in movies and M&B books. And, we were more interested in the short stories that each of these album songs portrayed than the songs themselves. Album songs were new to our group then and totally different from the movie songs or the english singles. Now, as I think back, every one in our group has moved to different places, are in different jobs and doing different things. But those memories are still so fresh and good... Here's to school life and all the friends and the happy memories made there!

PS: Shahid still looks kind of cute... not the handsome hunk way, but more the guy-next-door way. This song to Jab we met is a good transition. Lets see how it turns out all the way!

Collective power

Still among the best ads I've seen - shows what collective power can do.

It clearly portrays how the different factions of the society act. Small things like the sleeping policemen, the politician who only worries about himself, the girl in the auto complaining about the state of affairs, the guy in the car going out to help after admonishing looks from his wife all lend a subtle touch of realism. And, the expressions of the small boy to each of this - chanceless!

But the use of the rains, though appropriate, is a bit over the top. Maybe, we've gotten so used to this technique that it has become a cliche and hence is not giving the full intended effect. They're surely beating it to death!

Quarter cutting and Boss A Baskaran

Recently I came across two movie trailers that had me expecting the movies themselves: Adhuvum, tamil movie... been a long time since that happened for comedy movies!

First, Quarter Cutting - looks interesting. I've already seen the Tamil Padam by the same team. And it was really good. So waiting for this one eagerly.
En favorite was "Naan Sura da" :D :D


Second, Boss (A) Baskaran - Most of Arya's movies that I've seen are serious ones. This is his first attempt at proper comedy (or atleast that is what the trailer shows).

Home - really good!

One of the best and most disturbing videos I've seen in recent past. I'd strongly recommend everyone to click through this link. Though embedding is disabled and the video is long, its well worth our time to even become aware of the extent of this issue.

I'm sure everyone knows about this issue (one of the most popular topics ever since I was in grade school) but the extent of impact, that is where this video scores. Lets do our bit to spreading it! Do share it with your friends and family as well to increase awareness.

Totally funny!

Safe drinking water for all

One of the best ideas that I've come across in recent years. Imagine if everyone had access to safe drinking water without the need for unnecessary storage, treatment and distribution of water. Life would be bliss for some on earth. And infinitely easier for others Kudos to Michael Pritchard!

This is her favorite hero and song. I chanced upon it in another friend's orkut album and that triggered all sweet memories of school, innumerable badminton matches, the fun life of 7th, 8th and 9th standards, the final farewell party at her place, dance practices, Guides club planning sessions, crush talks and of course, our farewell to our seniors! Man! I miss those days!



And yeah, Dino Morea still looks good in this song :D

Incredible India

One of my friends forwarded Aamir's Incredible India video link. After some more youtubing, I came across another one that more closely resonated with what I think is a better glimpse of India's myriad differences. Our country truly stands by the slogan "Unity in Diversity". Here is the video:


India has so much to give, so much to share and so much to live for!! Missing every fibre of it! Love India!!

How does your memory work?

I recently came across a great video about how human memory works. Some of the information is interesting and fun while some others are scary, but all of them amazing! Earlier, I had thought that memory loss is only about forgetting past facts and that didn't seem like a big deal as long as you could keep the main pieces figured out. But when I heard that it also affects how you imagine and plan for your future, it was shocking. Further, when it was showed that effect of experiences in the memory can be increased or decreased, it was totally hard to digest it all.


One small question. I think a lot about India now. Does that mean I'm continuously refreshing those experiences, and by that video's reasoning, slowly forget it all if I don't go to India regularly to refresh it?

Thoppukaranam = Super yoga

Namma oor thoppu karanam, inga Super Yoga aayiduchu. Now I understand why all the makku students were made to put thoppu karanam by the vaathiyaar in olden days. On a totally unrelated note, does this have anything to do with the jokes about husbands putting thoppu karanam to their wives? Interesting question!
