Secret Seven!!
Tag rule: Tell seven things about yourself that you want to share! (he had just listed some characteristics of his... So I made this up! You can make it spicier/saucier/sexier when you do this tag - no restrictions!) And pass it to 5 friends!!
Tag:
1) I think I'm going to end up with the nice-girl-of-the-town title (I don't mind that as long as I have fun) and hope I don't finish last.
2) I can't stand people who are hypocrites. If you stand for something, do stand for it till the end. Don't change it ever so often. And stand for your principles even if it hurts. I'd respect you more a person for sticking up to your beliefs even if I see you have been in the wrong. If you change your principle about something, do so only on the basis of a solid reason. Don't change it for every whim and fancy! Please spare the world from it!!
3) I want to give everyone a fair chance in explaining what they did and why they did something. Everyone has a reason to act as they did! And certainly no one is stupid, just that the priorities are different! We should respect the differences and give people a fair chance! Seen too many breakups because of lack of it.
4) Am fairly easy to get along until you try to encroach on my private life. Just because I talk a lot to you doesn't mean that I give you permission to discuss other parts of my life(unless I explicitly do!). I prefer to keep different parts of my life secluded from one another (mixing never helps!).
5) Despite having a HUGE friends list, the number of close friends is less than 10 at any point of time in life. You need to have traveled with me in life for a considerable distance of life's journey before you can hit that list.
6) I love to eat anything red: right from strawberries to beetroot(my mom would be tired of making beetroot poriyal ever so often when I was a kid!). I think that anything red is lot tastier than others.
7) The basic things of my life have remained a constant despite all the experiences I've got. I'm glad I got them right the first time.
Tagging: Aths, Arun, Madhan, King Vishy and Dream Chaser.

P.S:He! He! You thought this was a post about my childhood-favorite detective gang? (though, I'd love to do it).

Days and dayz
The tag:
Two questions in each category answer them and then tag your friends from the blog-o-sphere. Leave a comment on their blog letting them know they have been tagged and you are all set.
Yesterday:
Your oldest memory:
One about playing hide and seek with friends when I was three and a half and hiding behind a window sill. The window doors were my height and there was some space between the doors and the wall. It was a great place to hide and you had an unfair advantage when you play hide and seek in your house with neighborhood friends. They just can't find you. Lets say I used it too well ;) I hid there and that's all I remember about it. [From my mom's memory, she says that I slept there(I have an uncanny ability to sleep in most places! You can ask my co-travelers or co-lecture-attenders for more proof! Guess this incident was an early indication) peacefully when the whole household and neighborhood searched for me. My mother was distraught and later, when they were about to go to the police, I seemed to have come out because I was hungry! This is one of the my mom's favorite tales to embarrass me :D]
What were you doing 10 years ago?
Hmmmm... Ten years ago, ninth grade, Bio class??? I can't draw, period. No, not even a straight line with the help of a scale. And that problem was compounded by the fact that I have a sister whose artistic talents are the talk of my family. It was a wonder that I even scraped through Bio in school. I would rather write two more pages of answers than draw a single diagram. Ok! Digressing.... Back to the tag!
Today
Your first thought today morning
Wow! Sunday! Oh no! Sunday already! Last day of the weekend! Should I really get up and go to the lab/work? Or can I still snooze my cell phone alarm one more time?
[Btw, I'm typing this sitting at univ... so, yeah I finally got up and came to the univ. And I did hit the cell phone alarm so many times that the next time I hit it, my cellphone would sprout two hands and hit me back!!]
If you built a time capsule today what would it contain?
How about the entire world? Because its too interesting to leave out anything!
Tomorrow
This year
Live the last year of student life and enjoy it to the hilt, for I may not get a chance to be a carefree student once I step out of the walls of my university. Even if I return, I'd be scarred by the good and bad of the world and wouldn't have the childlike curiosity that I have now.
What do you see yourself doing 14 years from now?
I know I'd be having fun.But how, where and with whom, Ah! that is the question!
I tag:
People who haven't written even one post in the past one month. Come on, bloggers! Its loads of fun to do it.

Absolute freedom - Just 9 minutes!!
1) I would invent a plane that would travel from India to US in half an hour's time(max). That way, I can stay in India and study/work in US. And, I would be living in the skies! What else does a person want?
2) I would relive every moment of my time with my grandmom.
3) I would make Vairamuthu write a song especially for me, get Rahman to compose it and ______ to sing it! (well that is a blank now! Will think of it after these 9 minutes)
4) I would try out the cauliflower chicken dosa that is available in select places in Karaikudi and Chennai.
5) I would go to all the planets and be back in a day.
6) I would have a body that knows no physical abuse (right now, my body lacks sleep( because of exams and submission deadlines), been subjected to jetlag(due to time differences), been hurt(due to the various injuries in games), been pumped with toxins(courtesy: all the fertilizers, pesticides we use for our vegetables),etc.)
7) I would have a tap of milk and honey in every home and every country. That way, our world would be a land of milk and honey.
8) With a wave of a wand, India would become sparkling clean and new(as clean as the leaves get after a good rain).
9) With another wave of a wand, all countries would be free of corruption, drugs and sexual abuse.(I know this is really too much to ask for, but hey! I have 9 minutes of absolute freedom... so, let me atleast think of it and enjoy it!)
10) I will know the thinking of man and the society.
11) I will make life easier for the common man by showing ways of enriching his life.
12) I would ask God what he thought when he created this planet of teeming life.
13) I would find out if ghosts and draculas and vampires truly exist (you can add manthreegam to that list! Black magic, voodoo dolls, african spirits - all are in too)
14) I would keep life simple and happy for the rest of my life
Guess my time is up. But it was an interesting exercise. In the first two minutes all I could think of was how I was going to finish up the pending work for the week. After that, I started with the list and didn't even realize I was over the allowed time by a few minutes. So, here goes my tag: Superficial gibbering prater, Arun, Dream Chaser, Priya and KK.

Five things the world doesn't know about me!!
Ok! Now to the tag!
1) I can gaze at the sky anytime, anywhere for hours together. When I was a kid, cloud gazing was one of my favorite hobbies. Even now, I try to use any little opportunity I get to look at the sky. I love the sky’s vast expanse and would love to soar like the eagle in the blue, blue sky. I love the sky during sunrise, sunset and anytime in between(day or night). My favorites are the moon, the pole star and the Venus. In fact, I find that poetry or prose or painting depicting the sky is a tad better than the rest.
2) I can read any book( right from kids story books(Doss, remember the afternoon where I read the entire comic collections in the bookstore while you were looking at other books?) to serious ones drenched in philosophy). Novels, especially those that have a historical or magical touch to them, are the best. Humor is a must, though.(Check my latest books section and the favorite books section for more details!!)
3) I love to eat anything red in color. I feel that if something is a deep red, it would have an extra taste to it. Need I say that beetroot is my favorite vegetable and red chillies figure frequently in my shopping list?? (But I’ve not tasted red wine, so I can’t comment on it ;))
4) I love doing things on the computer. There are two reasons behind this. One, I get a personal thrill when I know how something works and when I create something similar(the basic logic-and-program connection). Two, I can easily multitask with a computer doing more than one thing at a time(I feel that my throughput would be higher that way(of course depending on the combination of jobs queued up) and the efficiency would be more. However there are times when this basic law has been deflected in strange cases(like when I have to turn off all other jobs in order to study something I hate) and then my efficiency would really suffer. In such a case, I would have to reduce my throughput to increase my efficiency. Strange, right?)
5) I love a good discussion on any topic. Even listening to a good one is bliss! Nothing to stimulate you more than a good discussion with good buddies who enjoy it all. If the swords and daggers cross, then all the better ;)
Now to the most interesting part of tags. I tag
Princess Banter(Princess, do tell about your daily life too!) and
Confessions of a Psychic mind(Here's a chance to go deeper into your confessions :))

Dream Tag
1.I had this dream when in school. Our school is one big building with an equally big terrace. As a small girl, I loved to play in the terrace but it was a forbidden area for us. Anything forbidden is always more tempting and I always wanted to go there at every possible opportunity. We also have another building very close to our main building with small bridges in between. This was the basic setting of my dream. It was dark in my dream and my friend and I are running from dogs (ok, I’m scared of dogs) that have somehow come up to the terrace. We both manage to close off the terrace door and try to find a way to escape. We see the adjacent building but lo! There is no bridge between the main building and the adjacent building. There is only one big swing(yes, you got it right! A swing!) and we have only ONE chance to get across. We start swinging and when we are about to reach, both of us slip off, me on one side and she on the other. We hang there like two sides of a balance. Then, I see down, realize how high up we are and....... got up all sweaty with fear!! From then on, I never went upto the terrace alone until my seventh or eighth standard.
2.This was a really weird but a very lovely(and hunger-inducing ;)) dream. One day, after my first experience of the giant wheel(a usual sight in the exhibitions) and reading the “Wishing Chair again” book where there is a land of goodies(where everything is made of food, even the trees, houses and roads.... wow!!), I dreamt that there is an exhibition in our town where once you enter, you get transported to the land of goodies spread over a hillock and there is a giant wheel at the very top. Me and my sister go to the exhibition and we are wearing a bizarre belt with a spoon, fork and a cup hanging from the belt :)We go to the giant wheel for a ride. On the way, we stop every now and then to taste everything. Even the mud on the road is made of chocolate. The flowers have ice creams and rasagullas and the houses are made of murukkus and appalams (a South Indian savory like the Papad but more yummy!) We keep eating a bit of everything with the spoon and fork(and sometimes with just fingers :)). However, there doesn’t seem to be any liquid anywhere. Then, we ask someone for water or milk or lime juice or....... anything liquid because we are so thirsty. He says that we have to go to the giant wheel, get into it, wish whatever drink we need and we’ll get it. Sounds simple, right? So, we go to the giant wheel, get into it as instructed and we both wish for strawberry milkshake. The giant wheel moves slowly and as we come to the top, a big pail of strawberry milkshake falls on us. (Cool yaar!! I could actually feel the chillness of the drink!) we go for a few more rides and each time, we wish for different things like the Rasna (I love you Rasna!! Remember??;) ), Pepsi, Lime juice, etc. Finally we ask for chocolate sauce and end up looking like Charlie in the Chocolate Factory. I remember waking up and feeling very hungry. Even now, whenever I think of that dream, I start feeling very good and very hungry. ;) Any takers for this land???
3.In college, I used to study till 12 at night for semester exams. One day, as I had a difficult exam in a few days time and I hadn’t touched the book till then, I decided to do a night-out all by myself... then, armed with the books, music, the occasional snack, I went into my room and started studying. I didn’t know when I had nodded off... I had my book in my hand and lay on my desk in an awkward position. Then, I had a dream.... Someone at the window is asking me to open it by scratching it but they seem to carry a stick (like the ones witches have). I go to open the door but suddenly my mother appears asking me to say Adhithya Hrudhayam(a slokam that would protect us from all evil). I tell her that it is night and that it is supposed to be told only in the morning. Suddenly a lizard falls on me and... I woke up shivering. I saw that the time was 3 AM, switched off the light and went to sleep covering myself from top to bottom. The next day, I discovered that the scratching sound was because of a tree branch at the window. But, I’m yet to find out why my mother asked me to say that slokam. Kinda enigmatic, right?
This was one of the more interesting tags that I have got. Thank you Sudipta!! I love sleeping and trying to remember my dreams. People say that dreams can predict the future. If anyone can predict mine from my dreams, I’m all ears... I’d love to know a thing or two about my future... if not the far away future, atleast the near-future. Any help, anyone?? Ok! Here goes the tagging part:
Arun
Sunshine
Janani
Syrals
Anand
Happy dreaming!! :)
And happy tagging!! ;)

Two favorite novels/stories with a short description:
1)Ponniyin Selvan - Book on Cholas. It tells about the struggles for Chola empire and the final coronation. It has mystery, romance, humour, philosophy and what not! The hero is Vandhiya Thevan though the person after whom the book is named is ArulMozhi Varman aka Raja Raja. In one word, this is one good book. Though it has a lot of history in it, the way it has been said is truly exceptional. Only after reading this novel did I get really interested in books. A must read for everyone!
2)Naintha Ullam - A book about a girl who learns to live with her brother and uncle's family after leaving her foster family. The fun she has, struggles she faces and the silent demons that she fight have been portrayed beautifully. The story is set in Madras and Sri Lanka.
In english,
1)Anne of Green gables - one of my childhood books that I still love reading. All the Anne books are good! A sure read if you are planning on GRE because it has so many "big words" as Anne puts it :)

The “I” post
I am thinking- of ways and plans of spending friendship day (today being a Sunday and all that) with my friends from school, college and colony.
I said- this to all my friends: “Better to enjoy life and do what you feel is right rather than let go of the chance and crib and wonder if you should have done it anyway.”
I want- to get into a top ranked university, finish my MS, get a job and start my own concern. And get married somewhere along the line! (Whew! What a wish list!)
I wish- I knew how to be more patient, more adept at solving problems (of the heart and otherwise!) and take people as they are and not expect anything from them. And cook sumptuous dishes!
I miss- Nila, my niece.
I hear- Kanda Naal Muthalaai ( from a film of the same title).
I wonder- How my final year and the next two years of my life are going to be(where
would I be, what would I be doing and so on and so forth)
I regret- nothing as yet. Given another chance, I would live my life just the same as this time.
I am- a person who can’t stand indolence and lackadaisical approach. And, I hate hypocrites.
I dance- bharathanatyam (when I feel like it - I feel that it is fun and prayer, a cleanser and exercise all rolled into one.) and just shake for songs like Karuppinazhagu!
I sing- any song which is on my mind at that time (and there is some always!). And, I sing well too.
I cry- only once, when my granny died. Rest, I don’t think anything is worth my tears.
I am not- very good at making and maintaining friends. Its kinda difficult to understand me and accept me as I am with all that I do and don’t do. That leaves me with very few very close friends.
I write- because it makes me happy.
I confuse- myself when I have too many choices and don’t know which one is better (Sometimes, even two is too much! And being a Libran doesn’t help either J)
I need-my personal space and time in all my relationships. I’ll run away if I was bound to anyone throughout the year, 24x7. I just can’t stand it.
I should- learn cooking and driving, especially on highways.
I finish- any book that I set my eyes on. I read any book irrespective of the topic. I once read the entire collection of law books I once found at my friend’s sister’s place.
